Don’t let anyone deceive you into believing that you have to obtain/gain more of the Holy Spirit. There’s so much manipulation in a ton of ministries/churches today that will try to convince you that you have to continually get more. Whether you realize it or not you are already filled with the fullness of God. You can wait, strive, pray, and go on all the 40 day fasts you want but none of those things will fill you with the Spirit more than you already have. It is solely by Jesus’ grace demonstrated through what He finished on the Cross that we are filled and not by our works. Getting baptized or filled with the Spirit is simply just coming into a deeper realization/awareness of the power of Jesus Christ, the hope of glory, that already lives in you. Your work is to simply believe in the power of Jesus that you already have full access to just like Jesus says in John 6.29: "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." Your belief allows the power of the Holy Spirit to manifest in your life. What we need to be asking Jesus for is a greater/deeper awareness of the power of the Spirit that already resides in us. Dwell on Colossians 2.9-10 (amplified version):

"For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]."

Whether you’re Charismatic, Non-Denominational, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian or whatever you’re already filled with His power via Holy Spirit – you just need to realize it!
